Pestemal (pesh-te-mahl) n. The traditional flat-woven towel used in the legendary Turkish bath. Famous for its absorbency and softness, it is perfectly suited for everyday use. It is hand-loomed of 100% Turkish cotton with hand-tied fringe.  

The Matta Herringbone Towel is designed and hand-woven by Matta and his family (pictured). They are a skilled family of weavers from historic southern Turkey. Matta's designs are customer favorites at Indigo Traders and we are pleased to now offer them online. This lovely towel features old world craftsmanship at its best. Available in bath and hand towel sizes.


Earth-Friendly Benefits
Requires less laundering, less space and less drying time than a typical terrycloth towel.

Care Instructions
Gentle laundering is best. Machine wash in warm or cold water with like colors. Tumble dry on low or line dry. Please do not use bleach, harsh detergents, dryer sheets or high heat. Wash before first use.

Please note: As this towel is hand-loomed, it may contain small imperfections from the weaving process such as tied-off threads.  This is a common feature of handmade textiles and does not compromise the quality of the towel.  Enjoy!
