The Legendary Turkish Bath
For centuries, the Turkish bath, known as the Hamam,
has been the cornerstone of Turkish society. Borrowing from the Roman and
Byzantine tradition of bathing, the popularity of the Turkish bath reaches
from Morocco to the Middle East. Now bath houses can be found all over Europe
and even the US. At Indigo Traders, you will find many of the items that
make a Turkish bath so memorable.
Pestemal
The Traditional Towel of the Turkish Bath

Indigo Traders offers a beautiful selection of Pestemal towels, the traditional towel of the Turkish bath. Measuring roughly 1 x 2 meters, this light-weight, absorbent towel is made from the world famous Turkish cotton. Known for unsurpassed absorbency and softness, they are a delightful escape from the ordinary terry cloth towel. Available in bath and hand towel sizes.
A "green" towel?
That's right. Our Turkish bath towels are so light
weight, they are more energy-efficient than a typical terry cloth towel.
They dry more quickly after use, so they don't take on a musty smell. The
environmentally friendly result - they don't need laundering as often. And
when it comes time to wash them, they take much less space in the washer
and much less time in the dryer.
Mohair Bath Mitt
Made
of hand-loomed mohair, our Turkish bath mitt makes for a serious exfoliating
experience. We've paired it with a bar of Syrian bay laurel and olive oil
soap for the ultimate treat for your skin.
Olive Oil
